Anna C. Treacy, Ph.D., MPH, MCHES

Group Leader

Dr. Anna Treacy attended the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in health education and health science as well as a minor in philosophy. She continued her studies at UNR where she also obtained a master’s degree in public health (MPH) with a focus in public health leadership and biostatistics and a Ph.D. in education focusing on special education, disability studies, mental health, and mixed-method research. Additionally, she is a Master Level Nationally Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), which enables her to provide support to clients throughout their lifespan both individually and in group settings.

Dr. Treacy has served as a health and wellness educator and coach in Northern Nevada and California for over 20 years. Her extensive career experience includes being a professor and academic advisor at UNR, teaching undergraduate classes at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), working for the Division of Child and Family Services for the State of Nevada, fulfilling multiple roles at an eating disorder residential treatment facility, post-doctoral research and articles, conducting speaking engagements at regional and national conferences, and much more. Dr. Treacy is also actively involved in professional organizations such as National Coalition for Sexual Health and the Council for Exceptional Children and has volunteered for various community-based committees, programs, and initiatives.

At Thrive Wellness Reno, Dr. Treacy facilitates group therapy for participants in eating disorder day treatment programs as well as in the It Takes A Village perinatal program. She is passionate about promoting holistic health and mental well-being and specializes in supporting clients in regard to sexual health, safety and intimacy, self-empowerment, body image, and overall health promotion, maintenance, and prevention. Among other approaches, Dr. Treacy applies neuroscience of perspective and reframing, mindfulness, and breathwork as well as written word, poetry, and music to promote health and wellness.

When she isn’t supporting clients or generously donating her time, Dr. Treacy enjoys being with her family — especially her three children and five pets. She loves to get outdoors to garden and take advantage of Northern Nevada’s four seasons and high-desert highlights.
