Perinatal Mental Health
NURTURE YOUR WELL-BEING AS YOU NAVIGATE PREGNANCY AND PARENTHOOD
Growing a family is significant and life-changing, and adjusting one’s life accordingly can be exhilarating, exhausting, and everything in between. For many, the perinatal period – pregnancy through one year postpartum – can be especially challenging both physically and mentally. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth and include a myriad of mental health conditions that can manifest as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and psychosis among others. More severe and enduring than “the baby blues,” PMADs can naturally interfere with one’s ability to function as well as care for self and baby with pride and confidence.
For those struggling with PMADs, it is common to feel alone, misunderstood, and hesitant to express symptoms and seek support due to stigma, fear of judgment, and feelings of shame and guilt. At Thrive, we understand the unique challenges that arise for those navigating pregnancy and parenthood. Our perinatal mental health specialists and interdisciplinary team of clinicians collaborate to provide comprehensive care with compassion.
