Admissions Manager - LMSW, CSW-Intern

Julia Actis, LMSW, CSW-Intern, earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in social work at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where she also gained valuable experience to launch her career. Julia started her experience in the social work field, helping lead Project Upstream, an initiative of the University’s Student Outreach Clinic to connect Northern Nevada’s under/uninsured with essential community resources. Additionally, she supported clients as a practicum counselor at UNR Counseling Services and also served as a research assistant studying how food insecurity, housing insecurity, and environmental issues are related to oppression and social work practices.


As a therapist, Julia finds fulfillment in helping individuals navigate complex mental health challenges, particularly those related to eating disorders and co-occurring conditions such as OCD, substance use, and trauma. She believes in creating tailored treatment plans that cater to each client's unique needs and circumstances. Julia's approach is integrative, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities to ensure the most effective treatment for her clients. She is passionate about working with families to strengthen support systems, recognizing the vital role that family dynamics play in the healing process. By fostering a deeper understanding and insight into the root causes of behaviors, Julia helps her clients build healthier relationships and find greater purpose in their lives. She specializes in DBT, ACT, CBT, IFS, and Family Therapy.
