Abi Morris

LMSW, CSW-Intern

As a therapist at Thrive, Abi, LMSW, CSW-Intern, pursues a positive and empowering relationship with clients using a person-in-environment (PIE) perspective. She is interested in taking a supportive role for clients in making the changes they desire. She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and is currently being trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP). Her focus is to maximize treatment opportunities and assist clients in gaining well-rounded skills to improve functioning and maintain their quality of life. She uses solution-focused and strengths-based perspectives as the foundation for her therapeutic process. She believes in the power of community and the importance of fostering both a professional and personal support system. 


Abi Morris graduated with her master’s in social work from the University of Nevada, Reno and is licensed with the Nevada Association of Social Work. She is passionate in working alongside individuals to achieve their goals. Her experience in working with Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital  has strengthened her ability to respond to crises and assist client stabilization. She has experience working with substance use, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, psychotic disorder, and personality disorders. She is dedicated to supporting diversity and has lived overseas where she worked for a children's home in Guatemala and taught first grade students for a year. She gained invaluable skills through her work at the National Suicide Hotline, and understands the importance of a supportive relationship with clients, using client centered approaches. 


In her free time, Abi enjoys outdoor activities such as camping and backpacking. She has a strong passion for planning events and bringing people together. She is also pursuing a new-found interest in cooking!
