Minerva Benitez
LMSW, CSW-Intern
Minerva, LMSW, CSW-Intern attended the University of Nevada, Reno where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthropology and a Master of Social Work. Her work experience has ranged from working with adolescents and young adults to working with domestic violence survivors.
She has experience working in various settings including residential treatment, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient therapy. Minerva believes in using evidenced-based practices in her work including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT informed), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She uses these approaches to help clients achieve their goals, explore their values, and challenge themselves to grow. Minerva feels it is important to use a multicultural lens, along with psychodynamic and person-centered theories to create an environment focused on empathy, authenticity, and to gain insight on behavior.
Above all, Minerva believes that the therapeutic relationship is collaborative one and she aims to create a space in which people can feel safe, heard, understood and comfortable expressing their perspectives — a brave space. In her free time, Minerva is a fan of the outdoors. She and her family consistently go hiking, camping, and snowshoeing. Additionally she enjoys cooking, gardening, and playing with her two children.
